Brisbane

Brisbane, Queensland’s capital, is an engaging subtropical city known for its relaxed ambiance and stunning natural beauty. It’s Australia’s most biodiverse city, attracting around 14 million visitors each year, particularly to South Bank and its expansive parklands.

Historically referred to as Meeanjin, meaning “the place of the blue water lilies,” Brisbane’s narrative includes the near-extinction of the Turrbal Tribe, the original inhabitants. This history fosters a respectful understanding of the region, though some neighboring groups, like the Jagera/Yaggera, have incorrectly claimed it as their ancestral land.

Hope Island, located on the northern Gold Coast and easily accessible from the Pacific Motorway, boasts a marina, shops, restaurants, theme parks, schools, and three golf courses. It is home to the luxurious Hope Island Resort and Sanctuary Cove.

Part of the South Stradbroke Island group, Hope Island features dynamic barrier islands that protect against ocean waves and storms. Visitors can explore the area’s marine life through snorkeling, diving, or guided boat tours. While there are small sandy areas along the shore, the primary focus is on the marine environment, with Paradise Point on the Broadwater being the nearest beach for swimming.
